A Southside Architectural Treasure tour locations in the town of Boydton

Each spring for the past 80 years, the Garden Club of Virginia celebrates Historic Garden Week, and eight day statewide event that showcases more than 250 of Virginia's most beautiful and historic gardens, houses, and landmarks. This year's Historic Garden Week will take place April 26 through May 3.

Each of the eight days of the Historic Garden Week, visitors will tour different houses, gardens and historical landmarks around the state, and on Saturday May 3 from 10 am until 5 pm visitors will tour the historical town of Boydton, the county seat of Mecklenburg. 

This tour will be hosted by the Brunswick Garden Club. The Boydton tour is being called a Southside architectural Treasure, and the houses, gardens, and places of interest have histoical signifigance and closely related to the builder Jacob Holt. The tour features five houses, four gardens, and five places of interest.

There are many featured locations.

All of the locations, excluding MacCallum More and Preswould Plantationm, are located within walking distance from each other, within one square mile in the town of Boydton. Even so, free shuttle services will be available the day of the tour.

Cox lunches will also be available the day of the tour, provided by Horseshoe Restaurant in South Hill, at the cost of $12 per lunch. The lunches will be served at Boyd Tavern from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm.

Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased the day of the event at Prestwould or MacCallum More, and the Southside Regional Library in Boydton is serving as the tour's information center and will have advance tickets on sale as well as tickets the day of the event.
