13th Annual Eureka Masonic Charity Ride (0:00 - midnight)

OXFORD, NCA familiar sound will be heard once again as The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford joins motorcycle enthusiasts from around the state for the 13th Annual Eureka Masonic Charity Ride on Saturday, September 11, 2010.  Another part of the day’s events will host an even longer running celebration, the annual 13th District Masonic Picnic, which will feed the riders and Home guests, as well as the children.  This year’s charity ride will again generate funds for the operation of MHCO and the care of its children.  Since 1998, donations from this ride have exceeded $150,000.  With warm and sunny weather, ride organizers expect over 250 participants and over 150 motorcyclists from across the state and throughout the southeast.  Originating in various locations throughout North Carolina, the riders will meet in Raleigh starting at 10:15am for a round of door prizes and then depart for Oxford, arriving at approximately 12:30pm on the campus of The Home.  The Eureka Masonic Lodge Charity Ride is one of the largest on-campus fundraising events held throughout the year.  Brother Jerry Edwards and Brother Doug Earnhardt, both Masons and members of the Eureka Masonic Lodge No. 283 of China Grove, North Carolina chair this year’s event.  Included in a rider’s $20 entrance fee is an event t-shirt, the chance to win some wonderful door prizes, and a delicious meal held at the conclusion of the ride, courtesy of the 13th Masonic District.

Once again, providing this year’s lunch are long-time friends and supporters the Masons of District 13, the home district for MHCO.  This annual district picnic will provide lunch for the ride participants and the children of the Home and is a campus tradition being held on the second Saturday in September for over twenty years.  For the past eight years riders and Masons of the district have joined together to celebrate this terrific weekend.  The 13th Masonic District includes Masonic Lodges in Oxford, Henderson, Youngsville, Louisburg, Creedmoor, Butner, and throughout Granville, Vance, and Franklin Counties.

Ride organizers and MHCO would like to thank the City of Oxford Police Department, Granville and Wake County Sheriff Departments, and the many volunteers and their families that make this day possible.   For those wishing to take part in this year’s ride, as a rider, participant, sponsor, or volunteer, please call Doug Earnhardt at 704-957-0346 or Jerry Edwards at 704-857-8162 or email either at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
